Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra criticized Union minister Giriraj Singh for his 'thumka' remark against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. Moitra accused Singh's ministry of stealing Rs 7000 crore of MGNREGA wages from the poor. She called Singh a liar and stated that he had used the word 'thumke lagana' on record. Moitra also accused the BJP of lying and said that the people of West Bengal dislike the party due to their misogyny and dislike for women in power.
