BSF plans marine battalion, drone squadron to secure Sundarbans against infiltration, smuggling

A marine battalion, drones, and all-terrain vehicles will be deployed by the BSF to secure the Sunderbans mangrove region along the India-Bangladesh border. The marine battalion will consist of over 1,100 personnel, with about 40 large drones and 12-14 ATVs. The plan, awaiting approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to address concerns of cross-border infiltration by terrorists and criminals in this strategic area. Currently, the BSF patrols the region with a fleet of speedboats and vessels, but the new plan will enhance surveillance and patrolling capabilities
